Sure, we all know about all of those new “features” those lucky Vista owners get, such as UAC and glass. But us non-Vista users can get an awesome advantage from Vista too: Cheap RAM! You can get 1 GB of DDR2 667 off Newegg for only $40. For me, its upgrading time! I could bump my box up to 3 gigs for only $80. How sweet is that?
While on the topic of RAM, what exactly is the point of those shiny heatspreader things? Does RAM really get that hot? I mean, I’m sure if you OC it enough, but it seems like everybody and their grandma’s RAM now has these things on it. The real reason, of course, is that the heat spreader gives the RAM makers a nice flat advertising surface. The RAM bling has now been taken it a step farther now by putting blinking LEDs on the RAM modules themselves! Somebody even took a video of their RAM and put it on Youtube! People are totally obsessed over anything that blinks or flashes these days…
I’ll take two! ![]()
Nah, not really, I’m too much of a cheapskate. But I still think they’re cool ![]()
